A few weeks after hearing Brother Fred's Story, I realized that there was a song stirring in my heart. It seemed as if there was something hovering around inside my head just waiting to jump out. I had been concerned with all the drastic, anti-American, anti-Liberty policy and rhetoric “Coming down the Pike” and I had to get just the right melody and lyric down to tell how I've been feeling. Everyone who hears the song seems to feel like I do and they seem to take ownership of the message and calling to “Make My Stand” right along with me. I didn't set out to write and anthem for any particular movement but there's a great deal about this song that rings true with many of my brothers and sisters all across the US…It’s time to tell the tyrants we’ve simply had enough!
Now this song may have been written about a country gentlemen trying to hang on to his little piece of America in rural Tennessee but it’s really YOUR story and it’s MY story too. We’ve been lied to and conned by almost every politician and major media source out there. They’ve promised truth and transparency but given nothing but cloak and dagger… (Right in the back!)
Many of us feel as though we are standing at the bottom of the mountain watching an avalanche begin to trickle down the slopes. An overwhelming feeling of helplessness beats at the door of our consciousness and we momentarily pause to wonder… Should we freeze in fear, do we run like mad, or do we stand and fight? That’s an easy answer right? Not for everyone. That’s why I believe this song and the general grassroots movement embodied in the lyric move people to action. Some people are overwhelmed and afraid. Many have no idea what to do about the coming trials but there are some time-tested truths that still remain self-evident! Yes, it's time to Make my Stand!
Make My Stand Lyrics
I’m living on the land today that my daddy gave to me
He fought hard and fair and long and there’s no big mystery
And his granddad long before and from generations past
Stood firm on what they believed in freedom, faith and love that lasts
I make this solemn promise daddy to try to do what’s right
When everything inside says run it’s probably time to stand and fight
People all around me say what will be will be but that’s not gonna work this time
I’ve drawn a line, made up my mind… that’s not gonna be good enough for me
I’m gonna make my stand right here in Tennessee
Some people say a new winds blowing bringing in hope and change
But there’s some things about this land that I really hope will remain the same
Like helping out my neighbor and giving to the least of these
So politicians keep your distance and leave this sacred trust to me
I’ve made a solemn promise to try to do what’s right
When everything inside says run it’s probably time to stand and fight
People all around me say what will be will be but that’s not gonna work this time
I’ve drawn a line, made up my mind… that’s not gonna be good enough for me
I’m gonna make my stand right here in Tennessee
I’ve been all around the world and from many foreign shores
People crying out for freedom what we have can’t be ignored
So tell me why should we just give up on what we fought so hard to hold
When it’s not about power or position and it's not about silver, silver or gold…
